Bankable Nature Solutions Officer (m/f/d)
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the world's largest and most respected nature conservation organizations, active in nearly 100 countries. Backed by over six million supporters and a global network of 90 offices, our committed teams are currently running 1,300 projects - working to protect biodiversity for more than 60 years.
WWF Germany operates as an independent part of this global network. While nature and wildlife conservation remain central to our mission, our work increasingly extends across sectors - supporting stakeholders in finance, politics, and society as they move towards greater sustainability.
We achieve this first and foremost through our people: individuals who are experts in their field, who roll up their sleeves, and who are passionate about our mission - all while bringing a sense of joy and energy to their work. They are driven by a shared commitment to building a sustainable future and see their role as part of a greater purpose: the belief that together, we can create a future worth living.
Do you identify with our goals of WWF? Do you share our passion and belief in making a difference?
To strengthen our Funding for Nature department based in Berlin, WWF Germany is seeking for the next possible date, limited until for 3 yearsin full time (with 40 hours per week) a qualified
Bankable Nature Solutions Officer (m/f/d)
Aufgaben
This role will work on two projects to support sustainable business models in forest landscapes in developing countries: the IKI FLR Hub, and the Landscape Resilience Fund.
Developing the project pipeline for the IKI Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Hub
IUCN, WWF and WRI are working together on an IKI-funded FLR Implementation Facility to provide governments, the private sector, civil society and local communities with the tools and opportunities to accelerate, scale up and implement FLR. The Facility supports the implementation of transformative public and private FLR interventions in the target countries, for which we are looking for support for our team to realise the following tasks, among others:
- Supporting the Project Manager in the coordination of WWF country offices with a particular focus on Tanzania and Colombia
- Working with potential funders to provide technical advice on high quality FLR projects
- Evaluating the most effective methods to connect investors with the portfolio of investable projects in the Hub´s pipeline
- Develop criteria to assess the eligibility of proposed projects at the hub level
- Analyse and facilitate access to available public programmes and incentives for FLR project developers
SME support for the Landscape Resilience Fund (LRF)
The LRF's mission is to enable the most vulnerable people in rural areas to effectively adapt to climate change. Despite the increasing frequency and impact of climate risks, only a fraction of climate finance is channelled into climate adaptation - and virtually none of this comes from the private sector - a keyproblem that the LRF aims to address. The two main areas of work are supporting SMEs that increase the climate resilience of smallholder farmers, and financing landscape-level activities to improve governance and strengthen supply chains. We are looking for support for our team to implement the following tasks, among others:
- Manage the LRF's current portfolio of two SME loans, including monitoring operational and financial performance, monitoring disbursements and repayments, and reporting on metrics
- Support the development of a landscape strategy to promote sustainable SMEs
- Design of supporting technical measures for selected SMEs
- Advising WWF country offices on SME support
