The Core Unit for Bioinformatics Data Analysis (CUBA), University Hospital of Bonn, Germany, is inviting applications for a:

Bioinformatician (m/f/d)

The position is full time (38,5 hours/week) and for a period of two years with the possibility of extension. The position can be filled at the earliest possible date.

The Core Unit for Bioinformatics at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn provides quantitative and computational analyses, training and consultation. Its main task is to support research groups at the Bonn site. CUBA benefits from a shared computing infrastructure and exchange of expertise due to its embedding and collaboration with the Institute for Medical Biometry, Informatics and Epidemiology (IMBIE) and the Institute for Genomic Statistics and Bioinformatics (IGSB).


Aufgaben
  • Analysis and processing of high-volume omics data (bulk, single cell, spatial) such as next generation sequencing (NGS) and MS proteomics data
  • Design, develop and maintain workflows and tools for reproducible analysis and QC
  • Reporting of results and documentation
  • Contribution to teaching activities, e.g. training courses in R programming or bioinformatics analyses
  • Consultancy and communication with project partners like biomedical researchers

Profil
  • Master's or PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science or any related field
  • Excellent programming skills, e.g. R and Bioconductor, Python
  • Experience in HPC environments (Slurm), Linux command line and containers
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics pipelines such as Nextflow (nf-core) and Snakemake
  • A team-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for joint problem-solving on-site
  • Knowledge of molecular biology is considered a bonus
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in English is highly valued, knowledge of German considered a plus
