About the Bloomberg LSE European City Leadership Initiative
The Bloomberg LSE European City Leadership Initiative is a pioneering programme to help mayors and their teams across the continent strengthen leadership skills, drive public sector innovation, and tackle complex urban challenges to deliver tangible results for residents in new ways. The initiative, established by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is delivered by LSE Cities in collaboration with the Hertie School.
To support the delivery of the European City Leadership Initiative (ECLI), we are seeking a:
Executive Education Teaching Fellow - European City Leadership Initiative (gn)
on a full-time basis (40 hours/week), with a contract initially limited until 30 June 2027, and the opportunity to extend for further years within the project duration.
The Bloomberg LSE European City Leadership Initiative is a pioneering programme to help mayors and their teams across the continent strengthen leadership skills, drive public sector innovation, and tackle complex urban challenges to deliver tangible results for residents in new ways. The initiative, established by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is delivered by LSE Cities in collaboration with the Hertie School. The Executive Education Teaching Fellow will be a key member of the Executive Education team within the initiative, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of the ECLI curriculum for the Senior Leaders track, in close collaboration with the Academic Director - Senior Leaders and the ECLI Executive Education team.
Aufgaben
- Contribute to the design, development, and continuous refinement of the ECLI curriculum for Senior Leaders, working closely with the Academic Director, faculty, and broader ECLI Executive Education team.
- Develop and maintain high-quality learning materials, including session notes, case inputs, briefing documents, and supporting content for programme delivery.
- Conduct applied research and analytical preparation to inform curriculum development, ensure relevance to participating cities, and support continuous programme improvement.
- Contribute to cross-track integration by contributing to content development and coordination across the Mayors and City Teams tracks, ensuring coherence of learning objectives and materials.
- Play an active role in programme delivery in Berlin and London, including classroom support, facilitation of group work, participant engagement, and session coordination.
- Support participant engagement throughout the programme by addressing substantive questions and contributing to a high-quality learning experience.
- Collect, synthesise, and document insights and feedback from programme delivery to support curriculum evolution and continuity across programme cycles.
- Contribute to the preparation of narrative reporting, impact assessments, and internal documentation in collaboration with initiative partners.
- Provide ad hoc support to additional programme elements, including the development and delivery of alumni or reunion activities where required.
Profil
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Urban Studies, Business Administration, Education, or a related field; a PhD is advantageous but not required.
- Academic and/or professional background in local government, governance, and/or leadership and skills development, along with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, including exposure to applied research, policy analysis, or programme/content development.
- Experience in developing training, teaching, or learning materials, ideally in an executive education, higher education, or policy-related context.
- Teaching, facilitation, or moderation experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate complex content into clear, structured learning materials.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and engagement skills suited for high-level participants.
- Ability to work with diverse, international, and multidisciplinary teams as well as high-level international groups.
- Willingness to support in-person programme delivery in international settings (e.g. Berlin and London).
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is required for this role; German language skills are desirable. Additional languages are welcome.
