We are seeking passionate and talented students who want to achieve impact by shaping next-generation products at ZEISS. Integrated into a team of scientists and research engineers, you will work (for at least 6 months) on building a prototype for a novel sensor device that precisely controls a complex mechanical system through optical feedback. Your primary focus will be on the physical integration of advanced optical components into a dynamic mechanical assembly, ensuring alignment, stability, and performance. You will combine optical design, signal processing, and programming to create a tangible, high-performance system that leverages tomorrow's technologies. What We Offer

Profil

You are enrolled in a master's degree in physics, photonics, optical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field

Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++, with demonstrable hands-on project experience

Practical experience with opto-mechanical assembly, alignment, and calibration

A solid foundation in computer vision and physical optics

Preferably Foundations in Mechanical Design (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, FreeCAD)

Familiarity with electronics, wiring, and interfacing with sensors and actuators is a plus

Excellent communication skills in English
