Postdoctoral fellow (m/f/d)

The position is initially limited to May 31, 2027 due to the project duration.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on the influence of Alzheimer's disease and aging on changes in cognitive functions in humans. The project combines cutting-edge technologies from genetics, proteomics and statistical modeling to understand the interplay of neurodegenerative diseases and aging, improve the early detection of affected individuals, and identify novel drug targets.
Part of the work will be conducted within the international, European Union-funded ADPriOMICS consortium, which consists of renowned experts in the field of genetics, epidemiology and neuroinflammation, offering a competitive and thriving environment. At the University Hospital Bonn, the position will be affiliated with a newly established junior research group focusing on early detection of Alzheimer's disease using multiple layers of omics data and statistical modeling of longitudinal cognitive data. Within this group led by Dr. Luca Kleineidam, the applicant will work on challenging and rewarding projects in a friendly and supportive team.

• Conduct and development of statistical analyses of genetic, proteomic data and their links to neuropsychological phenotypes
• Interpretation and interdisciplinary discussion of research results
• Design and implementation of own research ideas to improve early detection of neurodegenerative diseases and the understanding of their interplay with aging
• Presentation of analysis results, including scientific conferences
• Drafting and revising manuscripts
• Preparation of grant applications
• Providing guidance to junior researchers

• A PhD degree (or comparable) and a strong background in biostatistics, epidemiology, biology, medicine, or similar disciplines
• Graduate students expecting to receive their PhD within six months can also apply
• Experience in the advanced analysis of genetic or proteomic data
• Interest in learning methods to statistically analyze longitudinal cognitive data
• Experience with the preparation of scientific publications
