IsraAID Germany e. V. responds to the changing needs of crisis and conflict-affected populations inside and outside of Germany as they transition from crisis to reconstruction, rehabilitation, and sustainable living. We work tirelessly to address the immediate needs of vulnerable communities while also fostering long-term community resilience. As part of our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to join our Professional Department as a Humanitarian and Community Resilience Advisor.


Position Overview:

The advisor would be advising organization through the professional department on planning & executing programs of recovery and community resilience in all programs of IsraAID-Germany worldwide. The aim is to respond to immediate needs in case of catastrophes and strengthen community resilience of local or displaced communities and to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the methodologies with the highest level of accountability as possible to fulfill IsraAID-Germany's vision and mission.

Tasks

● Provide advising and professional support to humanitarian and emergency operations.

● Provide expert knowledge on community development, resilience, safety, security and all other relevant components for projects operating in emergency humanitarian response.

● Develop work plans with technical staff and ensure deliverables are implementable.

● Travel occasionally to support staff at the field sites and to support the professional department in delivering cutting-edge knowledge and expertise to the teams.

● Ensure that best practices are used in all training and community mobilization activities and keep up to date with state-of-the-art programming in these areas, as well as follow what is happening more broadly country wide.

● Provide individual consultant processes with team members of relevant projects.

● Responsible for leading processes of writing manuals and trainings.


● Substantial senior-level field experience in the humanitarian aid and development sector working in a senior humanitarian operations role in at least 2 different contexts.

● Strong understanding of humanitarian context and application of humanitarian principles with minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

● University Master's Degree holder, preferably in human science, social service, international relationship, or disaster management.

● In-depth understanding of how to operate safely and securely in humanitarian response.

● Sound communication, coordination and facilitation skills, strong leadership, and interpersonal skills.

● Mature personality, self-motivation, strong sense of responsibility and independence.

● Demonstrated ability to work in complex, unstable environments, and work across different cultures.

● High level of writing skills.

● Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required.


Location: Germany or Europe based

Start date: Immediately

Position size: Freelance position/5 hours per week

Contract length: 1 year with the aim of an extension
