Project Manager in Beijing (P.R. China)
The German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) is a body established by federal law representing the German statutory accident insurance institutions. Prevention, rehabilitation and financial compensation form the cornerstones of DGUV's tasks.
DGUV has been awarded a grant contract for the EU funded project: “EU Support for Health and Safety Analysis in China.”
The project seeks to address a more balanced competitive environment between the EU and China by supporting the alignment of occupational safety and health standards. This will be achieved through access to recognised methods and tools for Occupational Safety / Occupational Health data collection and analysis, enabling a clearer understanding of the causes of work-related accidents and health issues and, where possible, developing interventions of regulatory or technical nature.
Aufgaben
The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project management and implementation in China.
He / she will establish strong working relationships with Chinese stakeholders. The Project Manager will report directly to the DGUV Project Steering Committee chaired by the Project Lead and will be responsible for a team of two programme officers and one office assistant.
Qualifications and skills
- University degree of at least three years or equivalent degree in a discipline relevant to the scope of the assignment, such as management, occupational safety and health (OSH) or statistics.
- Ability to effectively manage a wide range of project activities.
- Ability to identify, organise, provide and manage technical input and support to project activities.
- Ability to liaise successfully with relevant stakeholders, both public and private.
- Ability to organise effective visibility activities.
- Strong analytical skills and computer literacy.
- Proven excellent report writing and communication skills in English.
- Good knowledge of the Chinese context is an asset.
- Chinese language skills are an asset.
Profil
General professional experience
- Minimum 10 years of general professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years of project management experience, ideally with an EU financed project.
- Experience in an international environment is required, experience in overseas assignments in development and/ or transitional economies especially in Asia is an asset.
Specific professional experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of capacity building and training in the field of data collection and analysis.
- Experience in managing technical assistance and institutional capacity building activities, including a team of short term consultants
- Experience in working successfully with representatives of counterpart organisations in the field of expertise is an asset.
- Previous work experience in China and/or in the area of statistics is an asset.
