The Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS) seeks to advance intelligent systems that perceive, learn, and interact through fundamental research across computational, physical, and social dimensions. We shape artificial intelligence and robotics to advance knowledge and benefit society. The institute takes a highly interdisciplinary approach that combines mathematics, computation, engineering, materials science, and biology.

For our interdepartmental user support and the further development of our institute's IT services, we are looking for a

System Administrator with a focus on support (f/m/div)

Location: Tübingen




Aufgaben

Your tasks include:

  • Administration and maintenance of our workstation and lab systems (Linux, macOS, Windows)
  • Participation in IT projects of the institute (e.g. services, licence management, monitoring)
  • Administration of user accounts
  • 1st level support for our scientists
  • Support of our videoconferencing systems

Profil
  • You are an IT specialist (Fachinformatiker/in, Informationselektroniker/in, IT‑Systemelektroniker/in) or have an equivalent qualification in the described field of activity
  • You have experience or interest in one or more of the following: Linux, macOS, Windows, Ansible, networking, video conferencing, or audiovisual equipment
  • You are a comfortable command line user with an interest in developing your skills
  • You work largely independently
  • You enjoy collaborating and supporting colleagues proactively and with a solution-oriented mindset
  • You have a good command of English

The position will be located in the Tübingen site of our institute as part of the IT service group. Salaries and contracts will be based on previous experience according to the Public Service Wage Agreement (TVöD) guidelines. This is a full-time position. The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility of a transition into a permanent position.
